Personal Blurb: Hey! I’m Austin, and if someone ever asks me to describe myself, I want to always start with the most essential part of my story, that I am saved from my sin by God and His Grace, and being increasingly restored by my Savior Jesus Christ, and so thankful to walk this journey with Him and allow Him to work His Love and Redemption in me and through me.
In my free time I enjoy adventuring with friends, whether it is outdoor hiking or rafting expeditions or exploring the streetscapes of the city. I connect with all sorts of visual and musical creativity, from painting and drawing artwork, to playing saxophone in a jazz band with friends. I also enjoy helping with local community service groups in my city that seek to form friendships with and serve people who are in situations of poverty.
I’m thankful to be a part of Visioneering Studios as an Architecture Intern and member of the design team in Nashville, collaborating together to bring inspired vision of place and space to life from the idea to the design to the built reality, to be used for beneficial influence and activities within each unique community.
Choose a Movie Title for Your Life: I could see myself being a character in the Harry Potter stories, because their adventures are so much fun and larger than life. I would probably be Ron Weasley – that one guy who really wants to help and do something awesome, but always goofs it up somehow, yet still helps out the team, and provides everyone with unexpected but much-needed comedic relief.
Can You Play a Musical Instrument: I enjoy playing the saxophone, though most would probably call my “music” a bunch of squawks and honks… I prefer to call it “free-form improv jazz composition,” but maybe that’s just to make me sound legit.
3 Things on Your Bucket List: 1 – Paint an epic street-art mural on the side of a building in a downtown area, with some artist friends, maybe somehow trying to capture the vibrant creativity and liveliness of all the people of the city, 2 – Hike up to the peak of a really tall mountain, maybe in the Rockies of Colorado, and of course bring my saxophone up there to play a legendary melody that echoes through the landscape (hopefully not causing any avalanches.) & 3 – Jam with one of my favorite jazz-rock-fusion bands, Snarky Puppy. They look like they are always goofing off and having fun, playing off of each other’s solos and harmonies, pushing the boundaries of music and “the groove”.
Who In The Bible Do You Identify With the Most: This is a tough one, to try and select just one person in the Bible that I connect with the most. I guess I really try to envision myself in each person’s place as a I read the stories and accounts of their experience, hoping to learn the valuable lessons and wisdom that God taught in each experience through their journey, their actions, their walk with God, how He wants to shape them and grow them through the process.
What Does Being A Visioneer Mean to You: Being a Visioneer is such an honor and privilege. To me it means being a part of an awesome team of creative designers, developers, architects and builders, that all share a passion of partnering with our clients to help them envision, design and build physical places and spaces, seeing the world as it could be fueled by the conviction that it should be. We believe that the great potential of architecture is that it can be designed and built with story, passion, and precision, in a way that supports the positive influences and activities that people want to make in their community.
