Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Environmental Graphics Designer to help shape the visual identity of physical spaces. This role blends graphic design with architectural thinking to craft immersive, functional, and visually cohesive environments.
You will be responsible for creating branded graphics, wayfinding systems, and interactive displays that enhance user experience and strengthen brand presence. You’ll collaborate with architects, interior designers, contractors, and fabricators to ensure that your designs are fully integrated into the built environment, both aesthetically and technically. From concept development to production and installation, you’ll oversee every aspect of the environmental design process with an eye for detail, consistency, and innovation.
Responsibilities:
Branded Environments & Visual Identity
- Design large-scale graphics and branded elements (e.g., murals, placemaking visuals, feature walls) for client environments across multiple sectors.
- Apply brand standards to physical spaces, ensuring consistency in color, typography, iconography, and material use.
- Develop environmental branding systems that reflect a client’s mission, values, and personality. • Seamlessly integrate visual elements into architecture and interiors, including walls, windows, ceilings, and floors.
Wayfinding & Signage Systems
- Develop clear and intuitive signage and wayfinding systems for complex spaces such as campuses, healthcare facilities, airports, and commercial offices.
- Design signage hierarchies to prioritize navigation and accommodate multiple user types.
- Ensure signage systems are compliant with accessibility standards (e.g., ADA), including tactile signage, appropriate font sizing, and contrast.
- Produce message schedules, sign location plans, and typology documentation for implementation.
Experiential Design & User Interaction
- Create immersive experiences using static and interactive design elements (e.g., touchscreen displays, AR integration, digital signage).
- Develop designs that tell stories, evoke emotion, and guide users through meaningful experiences within the space.
- Collaborate with technology teams to explore digital integrations that enhance physical environments.
Collaboration with Design & Construction Teams
- Work closely with architects, interior designers, engineers, and general contractors to align environmental graphics with spatial planning and construction sequencing.
- Participate in design charrettes, construction meetings, and site visits.
- Understand space plans, elevations, and construction details to ensure graphics are implemented correctly and complement the overall design.
Materials & Fabrication
- Select materials based on project type, durability, environmental conditions, and aesthetic goals (e.g., vinyl, acrylic, metal, glass, wood, sustainable substrates).
- Collaborate with fabricators and signage vendors to prepare detailed production specifications and installation documentation.
- Review proofs, prototypes, and samples to ensure fidelity to design intent.
- Provide direction and oversight during installation to guarantee quality and accuracy.
Project Management & Client Relations
- Manage multiple projects from concept to completion, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and deliverables are met.
- Present concepts and visual strategies to clients, gather feedback, and refine designs based on input.
- Maintain organized project files, timelines, and communication workflows using project management tools.
- Work as a key point of contact for client communication, providing strategic insights and responsive service throughout the design process.
Research & Innovation
- Stay current on trends in environmental graphic design, digital display technologies, materials innovation, and sustainability.
- Explore new tools, fabrication methods, and software to expand the studio’s creative capabilities.
- Contribute to evolving Enviropop’s internal systems and design standards.
